Pattern Correction

Correction to shop hop Kit Instructions

If you purchased a shop hop kit from Northern Threads prior to May 18th 2009 there are a few corrections you need to make to the instructions. There is plenty of fabric included in the kit to re-cut your squares if necessary, however if you would please make the following corrections to your Northern Threads Shop Hop instructions there should be no re-cutting to do. You may stop by the shop and pick up a corrected copy of the pattern if you prefer. Please pass this information on to the friends you may have purchased a block for. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Block Cutting Corrections in purple:

Background
(Cream) Cut 1 – 7” x 13 ½” ( J )
Cut 1 –x 3¼” x 13½” ( I )
Cut 1 – 3½” x 10” ( H )
Cut 1 – 2½” x 10” ( K )
Cut 2 – 4 ½” x 4 1/2” ( E )
Cut 2 – 4” x 4” ( B )
Cut 1 - 3½” x 3½” ( A )

Green Cut 1 – 4” x 4” ( D )
Cut 1 – 6” x 6” ( G )

Purple Cut 1 – 4” x 4” ( C )
Cut 1 – 6” x 6” ( F )

Flying Geese Piecing Corrections in purple:

1. Place smaller square ( E ) right sides together and centered on the larger square ( F ). Press
2. Draw a diagonal line across the squares. Pin
3. Sew exactly 1/4” from both sides of the drawn line. Press to set seam.
4. Cut on drawn line. Press seam allowances to larger triangle. Repeat steps 1 thru 4 using ( E ) & ( G )
5. Place a green half square unit, right sides together with a blue half square unit so that opposite fabrics touch.
6. Match up the outside edges. Notice that there is a gap between the seams. The seams do not lock. (Seams do not meet in the center)
7. Draw a diagonal line across the seams. Pin.
8. Sew 1/4” from both sides of drawn line. Press to set seam.
9. Cut the drawn line.
10. Clip the seam allowance to the vertical seam midway between the horizontal seams. This allows the seam allowance to be pressed to the ( F ) fabric
11. Press each half open, pushing the clipped seam allowance to the ( F ).
